The Sorensen Adventures: Our Trip to Yellowstone

The second week of August we headed to Yellowstone with Daniel's family. We stayed in their condos in West Yellowstone and called that home for the week. We were spoiled getting to sleep in a King sized bed. When we came back home to our Queen sized bed, it seemed extremely small. Andrew was such a trooper on the drive up and just loved talking to Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen. He adjusted well to sleeping in a new place and living on a different schedule. He did really well in his pack n' play.

We went into the park almost everyday. On Wednesday we spent the day walking around West Yellowstone window shopping, eating delicious food and treats, and seeing what the town had to offer. While in the park we saw lots of buffalo, waterfalls, and geysers. We also saw an owl, bull elk, and mountain sheep. Of course we saw Old Faithful go off and spent a good chunk of a day in that area visiting the surrounding geysers. With all the hiking around that we did Andrew got to spend time in a front pack. i was really surprised at how well he handled it. Only problem was that he didn't want to be facing mom or dad; he wanted to be facing out so that he could see everything that was going on. Then he was content.

We visited Mammoth Hot Springs. We got to talk to one of the park rangers. He had lots of interesting info to share with us. Daniel's brother, Chris, and I went on a zip-line tour. It was a blast! Andrew stayed with Grandma and Daniel while Grandpa went fishing. We got rained on and drenched at one point, but it was totally worth it. By the time we were done we had dried out. We had really fun guides and a great group of people to spend time with.

There was a grizzly and wolf discovery center that we visited on one of the last days there because we didn't see any in the park. It was neat to see. All the animals had been rehabilitated at the center for various reasons.
